Thesis Update

I just want everyone to know that I'm up to page 60 on my thesis! I have about one and a half chapters left to write and a deadline of Spring break. I pretty much live and breathe my thesis right now. I just keep telling myself, "it will all be over soon..."

Who Taught You This Is Okay?

So today my first graders are acting exceptionally horrible when I ask them this question...

Miss Stephens: Who taught you to think it's alright to interrupt me? I know it's not your teachers, and I no it's not your par---

Girl Student: (Interrupts teacher yelling) IT'S THE DEVIL!

I shoot quick look at the student to let her know she should NOT interrupt the teacher and she promptly covers her mouth and says..."oops!"

I had such a hard time keeping a straight face. Guess the devil could be the reason they can't stay quiet...

Hmmmmm...food for thought.

Update

I can't believe I haven't blogged in two months! Sorry to all my faithful readers! It's been a whirlwind of a month for sure! Here are a few things that have gone on in the life of April...

1. I finished my fall semester maintaining my 4.0 gpa (quite undeservingly if you ask me...it was a rough semester!)

2. I involved over 100 kiddos in an all-out Christmas "Exstravaganza" complete with cookies and hot apple cider afterwards.

3. I went to Mexico to spend Christmas with my sister and her beautiful family. We had a great time...even though I got the stomach flu while I was there.

4. I went straight from Mexico to San Diego to see my most favorite Ben!! Unfortunately I was pretty sick the whole time but the company was great! We had a good time. We went to the movies, the zoo, church, lots of great food. All in all, it was a fantastic trip and I did NOT want to go back to San Antonio when the time came...

5. Now that I'm back in San Antonio, I've officially started my LAST semester of graduate school! Woo hoo! It's going to be crazy busy but I look forward to a new chapter in my life.

What's coming up?

Over the next six months I will...

1. Go see Ben again

2. Present parts of my thesis at two different conferences (both in the presence of my composer I'm writing about!)

3. Attend TMEA

4. Turn in my thesis

5. Pass my oral exams for grad school

6. Graduate with my M.M. in Music History and Literature

7. Move out of my house...hopefully to CA where I will hopefully find a good teaching job

8. Enter a whole new chapter of my life

Wow! That's a lot of change happening very soon! Some fear the unknown, and I do sometimes, but more than fear, I am just so excited to see where God takes me next.

Here are just a few things I look forward to in the next few months (besides those already mentioned)...

1. The birth of Amanda's baby boy any day now!

2. The birth of April's baby (not me April but A-dub!)any day now!

3. Spring break with Ben in Colorado

4. Completing my thesis

Hope everyone is doing well!!
