"Miss Stephens, Where Did You Come From?"

Today, my sweet little first grader Sam was walking with me from study hall when he asked, "Miss Stephens, where did you come from before you came here?" and I said, "I came from Oklahoma." Then he asked, "What language do they speak in Oklahoma?" I held back a chuckle and said, "They speak English." Then he said, "That's good cause I can't understand when people speak Spanish." HA!

Musical Chairs

Why is musical chairs such a popular game among elementary school kids? All you do is walk around in circles until the music stops at which time you much scurry about to find a chair, which most often results in someone falling on the floor or getting sat on.
I have to tell you that my friend Sam does not like to walk fast, he's the last to arrive everywhere! He's usually trailing the class by at least 50 feet. Well, as you can imagine, he likes musical chairs just like everyone else but he doesn't like to walk fast around the chairs. We were half way through the first game and everyone is walking pretty fast. Sam is trying desperately to keep up when I hear him call out, "Guys this game is called musical chairs, not FAST musical chairs!!" Ha!!
I'm sure that story is funnier when told in person but it might still be effective in writing!

Crazy Like A Turkey!

I have a great little story from my first grader "Sam." Today his class was walking from the gym to my classroom for music. They are supposed to always walk in line order. Well, not everyone was in the correct order and Sam was attempting to help everyone to their spots. Well, no one was really paying attention to him and he turns to me and says, "Miss Stephens I'm going crazy like a turkey!" I couldn't help but chuckle and he said, "I really am crazy like a turkey!" I said, "turkeys are pretty crazy aren't they?" and he answered with an emphatic, "yes!" ha ha! Good times!

Hooray it's Gospel Day!

So this story did not happen to me first hand but I think it is funny enough to relay to you. Today is Spirit day and the kids do not have to wear their uniforms. Instead they get to wear jeans and a CHS shirt. Yay! Any opportunity they have to not wear their uniforms is a good day. I have this awesome first grader and last night he asked his mom wear his t-shirt was because tomorrow was gospel day and he needed his shirt! His mom was like, "do you mean spirit day?" He was like, "yeah spirit day." ha! We should have a gospel day...although I'm not sure what all that would entail.
